Project: Create new appointment scheduling website for Braids Slayed by Shay
Owner of Braids Slayed by Shay, Marshay Jeffery, is a hair braider with more than 20 years of experience. She wanted to deliver the best customer experience, but she needed help keeping up with her scheduling. Especially because she also works as a fulltime firefighter.

The Problem
- Client did not have an official website. She was using scheduling services but wanted more of a website feel where she could upload pictures of different braiding styles offered.
- Needed to integrate the website with a new scheduling service.
- Website should allow owner to set required upfront deposit before customers could set an appointment.
The Strategy
After researching different scheduling services, Marshay and I met to review the options and she decided that Acuity Scheduling suited her best. The company is owner by Squarespace and offered online payment integration with Square or PayPal.
Existing sites from other hair stylists using Acuity Scheduling looked great but the site was basically one big image, designed by someone in Photoshop or Illustrator. If a customer was using their phone while browsing the site and wanted to contact Marshay or visit her social media pages, they would have to leave the site and type in the information manually. Therefore, aside from making a visually pleasing site, it was important for it to be functional for the customer. The site was designed to have hyperlinks for the social media sites and allow customers to be redirected to call, text, or email from the page.
Once the scheduling service was selected, the next step was to transfer all 74 services that Marshay offered from her existing scheduling site to the next.

Dropdowns and Descriptions of Services
Marshay and I worked together to finalize the list and ensure the service descriptions were correct. Pictures were gathered and categorized to add to the product description.
Iconography for Terms and Conditions
To make sure there was no confusion when booking an appointment, Marshay wanted her Terms and Conditions to be visible to her clients before scheduling services. We decided to summarize the terms and add visuals on the landing page. A detailed policy would be made available for customers to thoroughly read and accept during the scheduling process.
For the landing page, I designed different iconography to emphasize key points from the terms and conditions and align with the brand.
Google My Business Page
After the site was set up, Marshay was eager to share it with new clients. I guided her on how to set up a Google My Business page to make sure her site was visible on mobile and could be searched by clients nearby.
Page Designs in Adobe XD
Throughout the design process, Marshay requested to view different color variations. I used Adobe XD to create the different prototypes.
Pictures were edited with Photoshop and iconography was created with Illustrator.
